The Effects of Mental Health on the Health-related Quality of Life among the People with Disabilities - Using the Korea Health Statistics 2013: Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHANES ¥µ-1) -

Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the factors affecting of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among people with disabilities.

Methods: The study examines the factors affecting of HRQoL using over 19 years of age who participated in the 6th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2013 data. Subjects were 479 people with disabilities over 19 years of age. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, X2-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, and multiple regression with the SPSS win 21.0 program.

Results: HRQoL is differentiated with gender, age, education level, marital status, occupation, house economic status, medical insurance, type of disability, and grade of disability. The significant predictors of the HRQoL were age, medical insurance, recognizing stress, depressive symptom, and thinking suicide. These factors explained 26.8% of variance in HRQoL.

Conclusion: These results show that recognizing stress, depressive symptom, and thinking suicide are statistically influential on HRQoL of people with disabilities.
